A Fresh Start For 2014

2014 already looking good…
In my opinion, 2013 was one of the worst years in the history of our country. Forecasters predict improvement in 2014, and apparently improvement is already manifesting itself. Congress, in spite of the obstructionist Tea Party members, actually passed a spending bill. Everybody gave up a little something, Congressmen acted as statesmen and compromised, and the talk about Obama Care by Republicans, is now in terms of “fixing it”, instead of repealing it. Surprisingly, the ACA, after stumbling at the starting block, is back on track, and gaining ground by the hour. All reports I’ve read is that it is working well. Good for us! I think our representatives in the House and the Senate, as well as the Administration are beginning to listen to the people.

Personal Progress, too…
The holidays have come and gone, and Lorraine and I enjoyed Thanksgiving and Christmas with her children. I, of course, ate too much and probably partied a little too much, but I survived, and immediately after January 1, 2014, except for time I spent listening to bowl games and the Broncos, I managed to finish the first draft of my latest manuscript of the third novel in the Cat Touchette Cajun series. A couple of writer friends whose critiques I take very seriously are currently reading “Cat’s Litter, Cajun Tale #3”. Cat and his friends and family experience a wild adventure in Colorado when Cat and Tee Man attend the Denver Stock Show to buy a bull to replace one Cat lost in the floods created by Hurricane Ike. J.O., Cat’s blind brother-in-law is taking part in some winter sports in the mountains with some other challenged veterans, and Cat and Tee Man surprise him. Fun follows! Then Cat gets into trouble, gets smart with a cop, goes to court and gets smart with the judge, and what follows is raucous, exciting action for the Cajuns. When the readers of the draft manuscript finish, I will do (or not) the re-write, my “Sweet Lorraine” will edit it and format it, then off to the publisher it goes. I am hopeful that it should be available by March 1, 2014.

Lorraine and I collaborated on an EBook, available at the amazon.com/kindle store/Lorraine m. theall, james ory theall. The book sells for only 2.99 and if you don’t have a Kindle, you can download the free apps for your android instrument and read it on your phone, iPad, etc. The book is called “Reflections on Life and Love” and is a collection of short stories and poems, some factual memories, and some fiction. We had fun putting this together, and even if you don’t like memoirs and personal stories, there is plenty of entertainment to be had from reading the fictional stuff. Try it, you’ll like it! Of course, our other books are still available in three editions: print, EBooks, and in my case, audio books.
